Iglesia de San Pablo

Iglesia de San Pablo is a church structured with three naves and ribbed vaulting that leads to a polygonal sanctuary. The interior features carved stone details and several side chapels arranged throughout the space.

The building has roots in Visigothic times but took its main form from the 15th century onward. For generations, this space served as a meeting place where city councils and local nobles gathered.

The funeral chapels inside hold processional statues representing different craft guilds of the city, while ornate Plateresque grilles decorate the spaces. This arrangement shows how local guild members made their mark in this religious space.

The building sits on Plaza Primero de Mayo in the city center and welcomes visitors most days of the week. It is best to check opening hours ahead of time, as these can vary seasonally.

The south entrance dates from 1511 and displays late Gothic details, while the main entrance preserves Romanesque elements. This contrast between two architectural styles is visible as you approach from the plaza.
