Hospital Provincial de Nuestra Señora de Gracia

The Hospital Provincial de Nuestra Señora de Gracia is a medical facility founded in 1425 in central Zaragoza with Baroque architectural features throughout. Inside, decorated hallways display traditional tiles and painted shields, while a central reception area organizes access to the various departments.

The hospital was founded in the 15th century and developed as a major medical center for the city over subsequent centuries. During the 1808 Siege of Zaragoza, it suffered severe fire damage that required emergency evacuation of patients to other locations.

The entrance displays a Latin motto reflecting centuries of commitment to serving the poor and sick from across the region. Walking through the halls, you notice how this social mission has shaped the building's character and daily purpose.

The facility sits in the city center and is easily accessible from main streets with multiple entry points. Keep in mind this is an active medical facility, so while hallways and historical details can be observed, most treatment areas remain off-limits to visitors.

In the 17th century, the hospital established its own printing press and received exclusive rights to publish all grammar books for the Kingdom of Aragon. This unusual role made it a center of knowledge and communication beyond its medical purpose.
