Iglesia del Espíritu Santo

The Iglesia del Espíritu Santo sits near the Almocábar gate with a strong bell tower and Gothic design elements throughout its walls. Inside, a baroque altar retable stands above the altar while original Islamic architectural details remain integrated into the building's structure.

Construction started in 1485 following Ronda's reconquest by Christian forces. The original mosque was transformed into a Christian place of worship with defensive elements added to protect the city from future threats.

The church serves as a gathering place for the local community during weekly services and houses a large processional bier used each year during Holy Week celebrations. These living traditions shape how people experience the religious calendar in Ronda.
