Santuario de los Gitanos, Sevilla, Catholic pilgrimage church in Seville, Spain.
The Santuario de los Gitanos is a Gothic Revival church in Seville featuring pointed arches and vertical architectural elements typical of medieval ecclesiastical design. The interior contains multiple chapels and altars, with the burial of Duchess Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart placed here since 2014.
The site began as the Valle Convent in 1403, housing Dominican and later Franciscan orders until church confiscations in 1835. The building was completely rebuilt between 1873 and 1877 after structural collapse, emerging in its current Gothic Revival style.
This sanctuary holds deep meaning for Seville's Roma community, who gather here regularly for worship and processions. The space reflects their devotion through decorations and the presence of the Hermandad de los Gitanos, their spiritual brotherhood established in this church.
The church welcomes visitors daily and hosts pilgrims and worshippers, especially during religious holidays and brotherhood processions. Dress modestly and respect any ongoing services that may affect visiting times or access to certain areas.
This site serves as a spiritual center for Seville's Roma community, where traditional processions with distinctive costumes and chanting take place regularly. The visual and auditory experience of these gatherings differs notably from other Seville churches, giving the place its singular character.
