Built in 1879, this market represents the last municipal marketplace constructed in Madrid during the 19th century, undergoing major renovations in the 1940s.
The market stands as a central meeting point where residents gather daily to select ingredients while engaging in conversations with local vendors and neighbors.
The main entrance on Claudio Coello Street includes 17 steps, while additional access points are available through Ayala and Lagasca streets with card payment accepted.
The Traders Association saved this century-old market from closure, maintaining its operation as one of only two extensively renovated historical markets still functioning in Madrid.
