The Mezquita Aljama de Algeciras is a medieval mosque ruin located on the grounds of Hotel Reina Cristina. Three walls and an ablution courtyard remain standing and sit within the hotel's gardens.
History
The mosque was built in the late 8th century under the rule of Abderrahman I. It replaced an earlier structure that had served as a Byzantine church or pagan temple.

The mosque displays its Islamic heritage through the preserved walls and ablution courtyard visible to visitors today. The site tells the story of a Muslim community that gathered here to pray and perform ritual cleansing.
