Canedo Palace

Canedo Palace is a manor house in the Arganza area that stands amid vineyards and features traditional architecture with refined wood details and noble proportions. Today it operates as a hotel with 14 rooms, each fitted with modern comfort such as air conditioning, flat-screen television, and complimentary internet access.

The building dates to the 18th century and was part of the Señorío de Canedo estate, where 25 generations of a family lived and produced wine. This long succession of residents shaped the place and linked it deeply to the history of wine production in the León region.

The palace reflects the traditions of a wine-producing region where local families shaped their estates over generations, blending agricultural life with domestic space. The rooms and layout tell the story of how people lived when farming, craft work, and family life were inseparable.

The property sits amid vineyards and is best explored during daylight when natural light illuminates the traditional rooms and details. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes, as the surroundings invite walking through paths among the grapevines.

The estate houses a wine cellar where a local beverage called Xamprada is produced, playing an unusual role in seasonal celebrations. Each year this drink is used to construct an enormous Christmas display made from around 1,500 bottles during winter festivities.
