Collegiate of Santa María de Cluniaco, Villafranca del Bierzo

The church features three naves, with a pentagonal chancel and intricate vaulted ceilings crowned by a central dome on pendentives.

In 1529, through a papal bull from Clement VII, the former Cluniac monastery transformed into a collegiate church at the request of Pedro de Toledo.

The collegiate church contains Renaissance decorative elements similar to those found in the buildings of San Esteban and the University of Salamanca.

The church stands near Alameda Gardens and serves as an active parish of the Assumption within the Diocese of Astorga.

The building combines late Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architectural elements, constructed with granite masonry and slate stonework throughout its structure.
