Larrinaga Palace, Eclectic palace in Montemolín district, Zaragoza, Spain.
Larrinaga Palace is a three-story eclectic building in Zaragoza that combines stone, marble, brick, steel, iron, and glass in its construction. A central courtyard runs through the structure and allows light and air to flow between the floors.
Miguel Larrinaga built this palace in the early 1900s as a retirement home with his wife Asunción Clavero, whom he had met at the Basilica del Pilar. The structure was completed in 1908, marking an important moment in residential architecture development in Zaragoza.
The palace displays maritime decorative elements throughout its rooms and facades, reflecting the Larrinaga family's involvement in shipping and naval business. Walking through the spaces, visitors notice these nautical details woven into the building's ornamentation.
The palace welcomes visitors, though it is worth checking ahead before going as certain conditions may apply to access. Plan your visit during standard operating hours to ensure the entire building is open to the public.
Although completed in 1908, the palace was never actually lived in by its founders, as Asunción died before they could retire there. This makes the building a poignant record of a family whose dream of retirement together remained unfulfilled.
