Güigüi, Protected beach reserve in La Aldea de San Nicolás, Spain
The reserve extends over 2,920 hectares of coastal territory, featuring black sand beaches, steep cliffs, and deep ravines reaching heights of 1,000 meters.
The area contains Spain's oldest volcanic tube, dating back 14.5 million years, and served as a battlefield during the Spanish conquest of Gran Canaria.
Archaeological sites near Hogarzales Mountain reveal ancient settlements and artifacts from the aboriginal inhabitants of Gran Canaria.
Access to Güigüí beaches requires a two-hour hike through marked trails or boat transportation from neighboring coastal areas.
The reserve harbors 250 plant species, including the endemic Andén Verde heartleaf and the cabezote, found exclusively in this protected environment.
