Reserva Natural Especial del Malpaís de la Rasca

The reserve spans 315.4 hectares of volcanic terrain, featuring basalt flows, three volcanic cones, and a coastline extending three kilometers along the shore.

The area was declared a Special Nature Reserve in 1994 to safeguard its geological structures, native plant species, and diverse bird populations.

Archaeological findings within the reserve include aboriginal shelters, shell deposits, pottery fragments, and multiple structures from the Guanche civilization.

Visitors can access designated hiking paths throughout the reserve, with parking facilities available and a lighthouse from 1898 marking the Punta de Rasca point.

The reserve contains specific plant species adapted to salt conditions, including the Frankenia laevis, Limonium pectinatum, and Zigophyllum fontanesii near the coast.
