Deposits of the mouth of the Algarrobo River

The deposits encompass multiple excavation areas including Trayamar necropolis, Chorreras, and Morro de Mezquitilla along the Mediterranean coastline between Vélez-Málaga and Algarrobo municipalities.

Archaeological findings indicate human settlements dating from the Paleolithic period, with substantial Phoenician remains discovered at the river mouth dating from the 8th to 7th centuries BC.

The excavated artifacts include hand-crafted ceramics, storage vessels, and perfume containers that demonstrate the technical capabilities of ancient Mediterranean civilizations.

The archaeological remains can be examined at the Museum of Malaga, which displays numerous artifacts recovered from the Trayamar tombs and surrounding excavation sites.

The Trayamar necropolis contains Phoenician tombs constructed between the 7th century and 600 BC, revealing burial practices and cultural traditions of ancient coastal settlers.
