Plaza de Toros La Glorieta

Plaza de Toros La Glorieta, Bullring in Salamanca, Spain

Plaza de Toros La Glorieta is a bullring in Salamanca with three levels constructed from stone, wrought iron, and brick. The circular ring measures 54 meters across and provides seating for approximately 10,200 spectators distributed across multiple sections.

The arena was designed in 1892 by architects Mariano Carderera y Ponzán and Cecilio González-Domingo, opening on September 11, 1893. It emerged during an era when such buildings in eclectic style shaped urban life across Spain.

The venue is deeply connected to the city's autumn festivals, particularly the veneration of the Virgin of la Vega in September. Visitors can see how the arena becomes the center of traditional celebrations that have been part of local life for many generations.

The venue is located at Avenida San Agustín 1 in the city center and is easily reached on foot. The arena features different access levels, so visitors need to walk varying distances depending on their entrance and seating section.

In 2011, the arena served as the finish line for a time trial stage of La Vuelta a España, one of Europe's major cycling races. This unexpected use shows how the venue has been adapted for purposes beyond its original role.
