Puerta de Bisagra, Medieval city gate in Toledo, Spain
The gate features two defensive towers flanking a horseshoe arch that measures 2.5 meters between jambs and reaches 5.40 meters in height.
Built during the 10th century under Moorish rule, the gate served as a principal entrance to Toledo and collected tolls from merchants entering the city.
The structure incorporates reused Visigothic limestone elements, including a plant motif near the keystone, representing the integration of different architectural periods.
The gate stands at the northern access point of Toledo's old city, marking the beginning of pedestrian routes through the medieval streets.
The horseshoe arch extends three-fifths of its radius and displays toothed voussoirs arranged in convergence at the haunches level.
