The church contains a single nave with side chapels separated by rectangular pillars that support semicircular horseshoe arches throughout the structure.
Alfonso VI established the church shortly after the reconquest of Toledo in 1085, with documented records showing its existence as a parish by 1125.
The church exhibits Mudéjar architectural features, combining Islamic and Christian design elements through its decorative brickwork and geometric patterns.
The building now functions as the headquarters of the Toledo Art Circle, following its deconsecration as a religious institution in 1842.
The current tower, designed by Nicolás de Vergara el Mozo in 1599, replaced the original Mudéjar tower with a plain structure featuring a single bell opening.
