San Juan y San Pedro de Renueva, Neo-Renaissance church in León, Spain
San Juan y San Pedro de Renueva features twin bell towers rising 40 meters high and presents a Latin cross floor plan with three naves.
The church construction occurred between 1947 and 1953 under architect Juan Crisóstomo Torbado, following Bishop Luis Almarcha Hernández's initiative.
The church houses modern Neo-plateresque altarpieces and a 16th-century Crucified Christ presiding over the main chapel.
The church incorporates barrel vault ceilings with lunettes throughout its structure, while a coffered dome rests upon pendentives above the transept.
The facade integrates a restored Baroque portal from 1711, transferred from the ruins of San Pedro de Eslonza monastery located 22 kilometers away.
