Puig Campana, Mountain summit in Finestrat, Spain
The Puig Campana rises to 1406 meters above sea level, making it the second highest mountain peak in the province of Alicante.
The mountain area received official protection status in 2006 when the Generalitat Valenciana designated it as part of the Puig Campana and Ponotx Protected Landscape.
Local folklore tells of a giant named Roldan who created the mountain's distinctive shape while attempting to free his beloved from an ancient curse.
The Font del Molí Recreational Area serves as the main starting point for hiking expeditions, providing parking facilities and information points for visitors.
The mountain contains specific micro-reserves dedicated to protecting rare flora species that thrive in its particular environmental conditions.
