Terra Mítica, Theme park in Benidorm, Spain
Terra Mítica is a theme park in Benidorm divided into five zones, each dedicated to an ancient Mediterranean civilization, offering 33 different rides and attractions in total. The grounds include separate areas for Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Iberian Peninsula, and the Islands, with each section featuring its own architecture and entertainment options.
The park opened in July 2000 and went through several management changes during its early years. A temporary partnership with Paramount Parks existed during its initial development but was later dissolved.
The name refers to the mythical worlds of the Mediterranean, visible in each themed area through building facades, statues, and decorations. Visitors walk through streets and squares reminiscent of ancient cities, while live performances and costumes recreate each era.
The park typically operates from 10:30 AM to 8:00 PM, though exact times may vary depending on the season. Combined tickets are available that can include park admission along with hotel accommodation and transfers.
The wooden roller coaster Magnus Colossus in the Rome section reaches speeds up to 100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour). This makes it one of the fastest wooden coasters in the country and among the most popular rides in the park.
