Balneario de Jabalcuz, Spa hotel and historic gardens in Jaén, Spain
The Jabalcuz spa complex extends across four terraces connected by stairs and pathways, featuring thermal baths and Mediterranean vegetation near Jaén city.
The thermal baths, documented since the early 17th century, underwent major development in 1781 when a road connected them to Jaén, six kilometers away.
In 1925, architect Antonio Flórez Urdapilleta designed renovations while Cecilio Rodríguez Cuevas created gardens similar to Madrid's Retiro Park.
The thermal waters received recognition at the 1888 Barcelona Universal Exhibition, establishing the location as a medical treatment center.
During the Spanish Civil War, the spa facility served multiple functions, including a rural school and a shelter for refugees.
