Palace of Villamejor, Government palace in Castellana Boulevard, Madrid, Spain

The Palace of Villamejor stands at number 3 Paseo de la Castellana with three facades displaying symmetrical design. The structure shows classical eclectic style with proportioned forms that define its exterior appearance.

The palace served as the official residence of Spanish Prime Ministers from 1914 until 1976. The government then moved its headquarters to Moncloa Palace, ending this chapter of its history.

The building features a Portrait Room with ceiling paintings by Manuel Arroyo showing the muse Euterpe and children with instruments. This artistic decoration shapes how the interior spaces feel when you walk through them.

The Ministry of Territorial Policy currently occupies the palace with entrances on both Castellana Boulevard and Alcala Galiano Street. You should check in advance which areas are open to visitors when you plan your visit.

The palace retains its original hydraulic elevator shaft in the main stairwell, later converted to electric operation. This technical feature shows how the building adapted to modern systems while keeping its original structure.
