Calvitero, Mountain summit in Sierra de Béjar, Spain
Calvitero is a mountain summit in the Sierra de Béjar located at 2,399 meters elevation within the Sistema Central range, positioned between Salamanca and Extremadura regions. The peak rises from forested lower slopes and offers views across the central Spanish highlands.
The peak formed during the Alpine mountain-building period when tectonic forces shaped the Sistema Central range. This geological process created the ridge structures visible across the region today.
Local shepherds have traditionally used the slopes of Calvitero for seasonal grazing, maintaining centuries-old pastoral practices in the region.
The climb follows a moderate hiking trail that requires experience and proper gear for safety. January through April and November through December provide the most stable climbing conditions with less variable weather.
This peak ranks as the third highest point in the Espacio Natural de la Sierra de Candelario and stands as the highest mountain in Cáceres province.
