Navamuño Reservoir, embalse en el río Angostura, en la provincia de Salamanca
Navamuño Reservoir is a large water storage area near Candelario in the Sierra de Candelario, surrounded by green hills and trees. The reservoir is fed by water from the nearby Río Angostura and regulated by a dam that can be viewed up close from various paths around the water.
The reservoir was built in the late twentieth century, around 1989, to store water from the Río Angostura river. This construction was a key project for the surrounding communities, providing a reliable water supply for agriculture and drinking water needs.
The path around the water is well marked and easy to follow, making it suitable for families and older visitors. The main route starts at the dam and passes through wooded areas and open fields, with shaded spots and sunny sections along the way.
Old stone farm gates called porteras can be spotted along the walking routes and offer insight into the traditional herding practices of the region. These simple but well-constructed structures show how local farmers moved their animals and managed the landscape.
