Casa natal de Pablo Ruiz Picasso

Picasso's birthplace is a three-story building located on Plaza de la Merced in Málaga that now operates as a museum. The rooms contain artworks created by Picasso and his father José Ruiz Blasco, along with other pieces spanning different artistic periods.

Picasso's family resided in this building from 1880 to 1883, and the artist was born here on October 25, 1881. His father José Ruiz Blasco, also a painter, provided the first artistic influence on the young Pablo during these formative years.

The house was once a private family residence where Picasso spent his earliest years, and today it reflects how an affluent household functioned in 19th century Málaga. Visitors can see the domestic setting that surrounded the young artist as he grew up.

The museum sits on a busy plaza in the city center with good accessibility and nearby parking options. Expect the rooms to be narrow and crowded during weekends and peak visiting hours.

The top floor houses a specialized library holding documents about Picasso's works and graphic art from roughly 200 different artists. This collection demonstrates how Picasso's artistic practice connected him to a much wider network of international creators.
