Igrexa de Santa María do Azougue

Igrexa de Santa María do Azougue is a Gothic church in Betanzos with three naves, where the central nave rises taller than the side ones. The building displays cross vaults and a semicircular arched entrance that shape its distinctive architectural form.

Construction began in the late 1300s and continued into the early 1400s, showing the extended building process needed for such a structure. The church received National Monument status in 1944, marking formal recognition of its historical importance.
