Museo Diocesano de Jaca

The Diocesan Museum of Jaca is an art museum focused on religious works from the Middle Ages. The collection includes wall paintings, sculptures, and architectural elements that come from various churches throughout the region.

The museum was founded in 1970 and was originally housed in spaces within the cathedral complex. After major renovations between 2003 and 2010, it gained more modern exhibition spaces and new presentation methods.

The displayed works show religious art forms created by local craftspeople over centuries. You can see how artistic techniques developed in the region and what role the church played in supporting creative production.

The museum is located within the cathedral area and can be visited in combination with it. It closes on Mondays and Sunday afternoons, so plan your visit accordingly.

One room displays exceptional wall paintings from the late 13th century created by a local artist known as the Master of Bagüés. These works are considered especially important for understanding regional artistic developments.
