Cueto Cordel, Mountain peak in Cantabria, Spain

Cueto Cordel is a mountain summit in Cantabria that rises to 2061 meters and marks the easternmost two-thousand-meter peak of the Cantabrian range. The top contains Triassic rock formations that reveal the geological forces that shaped this region over millions of years.

The summit lies on the boundary between Hermandad de Campoo de Suso and the Campoo-Cabuérniga commonwealth, at marker 113 of the Saja-Besaya natural park. Its folded structure dates to the Cenozoic, with Triassic Buntsandstein conglomerates exposed on the south face and Carboniferous rock on the eroded north side. The summit holds an iron cross, a mailbox and plaques commemorating mountaineers who died on the mountain.

An iron cross and memorial plaques honoring mountaineers mark the summit as a gathering place for the regional climbing community. These monuments show how important this peak has become to people who climb regularly in these mountains.

Several hiking routes lead to the summit starting from the villages of Abiada, Hoz de Abiada, and Brañavieja. Bring sturdy boots and weatherproof clothing, as conditions at the top can change rapidly and mountain weather is often unpredictable.
