Ecomuseo La Alcogida

Ecomuseo La Alcogida displays seven restored traditional dwellings from Fuerteventura that document how rural inhabitants once lived. The buildings show how people adapted to the island's dry climate and organized their daily routines.

The buildings date to the 19th century and reveal how inhabitants collected and stored water in this dry region. Large cisterns were essential for survival and farm operations.

Artisans demonstrate traditional crafts like pottery, weaving, and cheese making that visitors can watch firsthand. These living practices connect visitors directly with the daily skills that shaped rural life.

The museum is located on road FV-207 between Almácigo and Tefía and is accessible by car. Visitors should allow time for guided tours and can participate in interactive workshops, especially if traveling with children.

The museum keeps traditional animal breeds like camels, goats, and donkeys in their natural setting, living much as they did in historical times. These animals demonstrate how closely humans and livestock were connected in traditional farming.
