L'Estartit Beach, Mediterranean beach in Torroella de Montgrí, Spain.
L'Estartit Beach is a sandy stretch about one kilometer long with gentle entry into the water, surrounded by residential areas and local ports. The water is clean and marked by several well-equipped launch points where boat trips and snorkeling excursions depart.
The beach developed from a small fishing port into a known destination on the Costa Brava around the mid-20th century. During this time the coast began to open up as a tourism area while fishing traditions continued.
Fishermen still work using traditional methods in the bay and shape the daily rhythm of the beach. Throughout summer, local celebrations happen regularly that honor the long connection between the community and the sea.
The beach has multiple entry points and is equipped with restrooms, showers, and lifeguard services. Visitors with mobility needs will find designated areas, and sports equipment rentals are available throughout.
Just offshore are the Medes Islands, a protected reserve containing over 1200 marine species. These islands are only accessible by boat and offer a glimpse into an intact Mediterranean ecosystem.
