Cala Gran

Cala Gran is a sandy beach in Santanyí with white sand and clear water, framed by natural pine forests on its sides. The shore slopes gently into the sea and is enclosed by rock formations that define its intimate cove-like character.

The cove was once an untouched natural site until it developed as a tourist destination in the 20th century, gradually gaining facilities and infrastructure. Today it remains popular but less crowded than the island's better-known beaches.

Locals and visitors gather here in summer to enjoy the blend of natural surroundings and relaxed beach culture typical of this part of Mallorca. The pine-covered cliffs above create a sense of connection to the island's unspoiled coastline rather than to developed resort areas.

The beach is relatively small and can become crowded on warm days, so arriving early is advisable to secure a good spot. Bring plenty of water and sun protection, as shade is limited to the pine-covered rocks at the edges.

The beach is one of the few coves on Mallorca where dogs are welcome in designated areas, making it attractive for visitors traveling with pets. This policy allows families with animals to enjoy a full day without having to avoid most of the shoreline.
