Sakoneta

Sakoneta is a beach along the Basque coast featuring rocky ground and pebbles extending roughly 500 meters. Tall cliffs frame the shoreline and create a raw, undeveloped coastal setting.

The limestone cliffs were shaped over millions of years by wave action and coastal erosion. This geological history continues to define the rugged character of the shore today.

Local residents have protected this section of coastline by keeping it undeveloped and free from commercial structures. This care reflects how the community values the spot as a natural part of their coastal identity.

Swimmers should be aware of strong currents and rough waves, as water conditions can be challenging. The beach is reachable via marked paths from the N-634 road.

A section of the beach is designated for naturists and offers about 35 meters of space between the cliffs and the sea. This special area makes the location welcoming to different types of visitors.
