El Perejil, Nude beach in Caleta de Famara, Spain
El Perejil is a nude beach in Caleta de Famara that stretches along about 100 meters of coastline and combines two distinct areas: a rocky section and a white sand strip. The average width of about 15 meters creates a narrow and private space for swimming.
The beach got its name from local fishermen who discovered wild parsley growing among the rocks during the 1950s. From the 1970s onward it became known as a clothing-optional destination and has remained so since.
The beach has long served as a space for people who prefer natural bathing and draws both local residents and visitors from around the world. The open and relaxed attitude toward clothing-optional bathing is simply part of daily life here.
The beach is easily reached from the coastal path and works well as a day-trip destination. Visitors should note that the waterline can be tight and it is advisable to arrive early to find a peaceful spot.
The word Perejil is Spanish for parsley and recalls the plants that once defined the rocky area. Today wild parsley is rarely seen, but the name preserves this surprising connection to nature and the place's past.
