Church of San Lorenzo

The Church of San Lorenzo is a Romanesque religious building in Segovia featuring a distinctive tower whose window openings increase from one to four per side as you look upward. The structure sits independently in its plaza, revealing stone craftsmanship from the medieval period.

The building dates to the 12th century and was constructed on top of an earlier Mozarabic structure. Elements from the original temple were preserved and incorporated into the new construction.

The three apses inside display carved capitals showing biblical scenes that visitors notice while walking around. These images have shaped how people experienced faith at this place over centuries.

The church stands on an open plaza, allowing visitors to observe architectural details from multiple angles. The exposed setting makes it straightforward to explore the building from both outside and inside.

The western facade preserves a main entrance built in brick with a double horseshoe arch framed by an alfiz. This feature shows the blend of Romanesque and Mudejar building styles in this work.
