Rectorat de la Universitat de València, Administrative headquarters in Valencia, Spain.
The Rectorat of the University of Valencia is an administrative building made of concrete with a distinctive Art Deco tower and two main sections connected by a circular sector. The structure combines a central building with adjacent areas designed for different administrative functions.
Construction began in 1922 under architect José Luis Oriol's design but was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War and completed in 1944. The project reflects the university's architectural development during a turbulent period of Spanish history.
The building serves as a center for academic celebrations and official university functions, where honorary doctorates are conferred and important moments in university life are marked. These rooms are stages for the academic calendar and shape the institution's identity.
The building is located at Avenida Blasco Ibáñez 13 and is easily reached on foot or by the city's public transport. Visitors should note that it is an active administrative center and access to certain areas may be restricted.
A complete renovation of the building was carried out in 2002 by architects Luis Carratalá Calvo and Antonio Escario Martínez to meet modern administrative requirements. This careful modernization preserved historic features while implementing contemporary improvements.
