Talaiot de Trebalúger

The Talaiot de Trebalúger is a prehistoric stone tower in Es Castell with an elliptical shape built using large interlocking stones fitted without mortar. The structure rises from a rocky promontory and is surrounded by a polygonal enclosure dating to the Talayotic period.

The site developed during the Talayotic period and shows evidence of occupation across different time periods. Beneath its foundations, archaeologists found remains of an earlier settlement, indicating continuous use of the location by ancient inhabitants.

The monument demonstrates how people of the Talayotic culture lived and organized their settlements across these islands. Visitors can observe how these towers functioned as gathering points and defensive structures in their communities.

The site sits on a rocky knoll with good natural light for viewing and photographing the stone structures. It is best to wear sturdy shoes because the terrain is uneven and requires careful footing as you explore the different levels.

The tower was built directly atop the remains of an older dwelling, revealing two distinct building phases at the same location. This layering gives visitors insight into how ancient communities reused and repurposed significant places over time.
