The Parroquia San Isidoro Labrador stands with its neogothic architecture, featuring cross vaults, stylized columns, and pointed arch windows in the city center.
The construction of the current church building started in 1930 under architect Teodorico Quirós Alvarado, replacing an earlier structure damaged by an earthquake in 1910.
The parish maintains written records since 1878, documenting baptisms, marriages, and significant events of the local Catholic community through generations.
The metal framework structure of the church incorporates engineering solutions designed specifically to withstand the seismic activity common in Costa Rica.
The church bells, imported from France in 1937, marked their installation with a community celebration that unified the local population.
