The Alameda of Pontevedra is an urban park with five wide tree-lined alleys and a linear promenade across 2.1 hectares. It connects to Gran Vía de Montero Ríos through stone staircases and features multiple walking paths among poplar and oak trees.
Architect Alejandro Sesmero redesigned the site in 1879, transforming the former Field of Truth and Dominican convent orchard into the current park layout. This change marked an important shift from religious use to public space.
The bandstand from 1904 serves as a gathering point for concerts and community events, showing how this space has long been central to local life. People continue to use it today as a place to come together.
The park is accessible through multiple entrances, allowing visitors to explore the grounds on different routes. The maintained paths are designed for pedestrians and offer shade under the trees, especially on warmer days.
Artist Carlos Sobrino created detailed mosaics on the circular walls depicting local architectural scenes and traditions. These works were carefully restored in 2010, revealing the craftsmanship of this artistic heritage.
