Alfar romano Los Tejares, Roman pottery factory site in Lucena, Spain.
Alfar romano Los Tejares is an archaeological site that shows seven kilns of different sizes, work areas, and storage halls. The remains come from the period when pottery was produced here.
The workshop emerged in early Roman times and flourished especially during the first two centuries after Christ. After this productive phase, the place was later converted into residential space.
The display center shows how Roman craftspeople worked daily and what techniques they used for pottery. You can see through reconstructions and finds what role the workshop played in the ancient community.
The site is accessed through a specially designed pathway with skylights that illuminate the archaeological finds. The walkways are laid out clearly and allow you to visit all the main areas.
The modern exhibition building is made of lime plaster and fiberglass and resembles terracotta in its color. This design creates a connection between today's building and the ancient craft activity.
