Barrio León, Residential district in Triana, Seville, Spain.
Barrio León is a residential neighborhood in eastern Triana, bounded by Avenida de Coria, Ronda de los Tejares, Avenida de Alvár Núñez, and Calle de Rubén Darío. The district has a regular street layout with a main plaza and rows of residential buildings that create a quiet, ordered neighborhood character.
Construction of the neighborhood began in 1923 on the grounds of a former estate called Huerta de La Torrecilla, which was owned by José León León. This founder's name became the identity of the new residential district from its inception.
Plaza de Anita serves as the neighborhood's gathering place, named after a nun connected to the district's founder. Visitors can observe how local residents use this square as their main social hub.
The neighborhood is easy to explore on foot thanks to its clear street grid and central plaza as a natural reference point. Walking is most enjoyable in early morning or evening hours, when the weather is more comfortable.
Most street names throughout the neighborhood are dedicated to the founder's family members, a custom formally established in 1943. This distinctive naming practice makes the district a living record of one family's impact on the area.
