Auroransilta, Footbridge in Helsinki, Finland
Auroransilta is a steel arch bridge crossing Nordenskiöldinkatu street and connecting Pasilan, Laakso, and Taka-Töölö districts. The structure features two semi-arches that rise 20 meters above ground with a 5-meter-wide deck.
Construction began in August 2011 and the bridge opened to the public on November 23, 2012. The design received an award shortly after completion.
The name honors Aurora Karamzin, a historical figure commemorated through several Helsinki landmarks. This naming reflects how the city preserves its past through public spaces.
Pedestrians, cyclists, and cross-country skiers can use the bridge year-round in different seasons. The pathway remains accessible and serves different purposes depending on weather conditions.
