Koiton talo

Koiton talo sits at the corner of Simonkatu and Yrjönkatu streets, displaying a distinctive tower and architectural details from 1907. This five-story structure now functions as part of the Forum shopping center, mixing office spaces with commercial areas.

The temperance society Koitto initiated construction in 1904 with financial backing from senators August Ramsay and J. R. Danielson-Kalmari. The building sustained bombing damage in 1944 during World War II and received an additional floor in the 1950s designed by architect Ilmari Ahonen.

The building once housed a theater hall expanded in 1929 that became a center for performances and gatherings in Helsinki. Residents relied on this space as an important meeting point for arts and social events in their city.

The structure sits in a central location and is easily accessible through its connection to the shopping center. Visitors should know that the building's spaces are primarily open during commercial hours and the area sees considerable foot traffic.
