Monument to the Friendship of the Peoples

The monument features ten stylized human figures, including eight adults and two infants, arranged in groups on a three-tiered stone pedestal.

The sculpture was erected in 1983 to mark the 35th anniversary of the Agreement of Friendship between Finland and the Soviet Union from 1948.

Artist Antti Neuvonen won a competition among 48 submissions to design this memorial, incorporating both male figures holding children and a peace fountain.

The monument stands at 3.6 meters tall and includes a small water basin with a fountain, located opposite the Itäkeskus landmark building.

A Latin inscription on the base reads 'Monumentum amicitiae populorum', while the figures are arranged to show children connecting two opposing groups.
