Westfield La Part-Dieu, Shopping center in Part-Dieu district, Lyon, France
Westfield La Part-Dieu is a large shopping center in the Part-Dieu district of Lyon, spread across several floors with around 240 stores carrying international and local brands. The building also houses restaurants, cafes, and a range of services, all gathered under one roof.
The center opened in 1975 as part of a broader urban project that aimed to turn the Part-Dieu district into the commercial heart of Lyon. Over the following decades it was expanded and updated several times to keep pace with the growth of the neighborhood around it.
Food Society on the second floor brings together about ten cooking counters from different parts of the world. Just above, Les Tables offers a calmer setting with sit-down international restaurants.
The center sits right next to the Part-Dieu train station and is served by several metro lines, making it one of the most accessible spots in the city. Visiting on a weekday generally means fewer crowds than on a weekend.
La Lanterne, an extension added in 2020, includes dedicated bicycle parking with a repair station at the entrance, which is rare for a center of this size in France. This makes it one of the few large shopping destinations in the country to actively welcome cyclists.
