Les Orres, Alpine ski resort in Hautes-Alpes, France.
Les Orres is a ski resort in the French Alps sitting at about 1,460 meters (4,790 feet) with 38 marked runs spread across its terrain. The resort center serves as the hub for accessing the slopes and summer mountain activities.
The ski resort was founded in the 1970s, transforming this mountain community into a winter sports destination. This development brought new life to a region previously known mainly for farming and rural life.
The Rural Museum displays how mountain families lived through collections of traditional furniture, clothing, and tools from past generations. Walking through its rooms, you see how people adapted their homes and work to life in the high Alps.
The slopes operate from December through April with runs for all ability levels. During summer, many trails are open for mountain biking, making the resort usable year-round for outdoor sports.
The resort center was designed by architect Jean-Michel Legrand and recognized as part of the 20th Century Heritage list. This modern design sets it apart from traditional mountain villages in the area.
