Îlots des Moines, Small archipelago in southwestern Corsica, France.
Îlots des Moines is a cluster of rocky islands in the Strait of Bonifacio off southwestern Corsica's coast. They consist of several rock formations and reefs scattered across the Mediterranean, creating a jagged landscape visible from nearby headlands.
The islands take their name from early French nautical charts and were later incorporated into a protected marine zone. A lighthouse was constructed on the southwestern reef to guide vessels through these treacherous waters.
The islands carry different names across languages, including Isuli di i Monachi in Corsican and Isolotti dei Monaci in Italian.
The site falls within the Bouches de Bonifacio Nature Reserve, where underwater diving and fishing are prohibited. The best views come from the nearby Cap de Roccapina on the mainland, which is easily accessible by land.
The lighthouse stands out with its distinctive black base and yellow upper section, making it visible from far away. This striking color scheme serves both as a navigational aid and as a visual landmark for the maritime region.
