Originally built as a Viking fortress in wood, the castle transformed through centuries into a sophisticated residence combining medieval, Renaissance, and classical architecture.
Charles Perrault found inspiration within the castle walls and gardens to write his enduring fairy tale The Sleeping Beauty, permanently connecting the site to literature.
The castle welcomes visitors from February through December, with adult admission at 14.50 euros and children between 8-16 years paying 7 euros.
The castle maintains displays of period costumes throughout its rooms, while showing scenes from Sleeping Beauty with life-sized character representations.
