Disneyland Park, Theme park in Chessy, France.
Disneyland Park is a theme park in Chessy, France, divided into five separate zones spread over roughly 140 acres. Each zone features its own rides, buildings, and landscapes inspired by American towns, adventure regions, fairy tales, or visions of the future.
The site opened its doors on April 12, 1992, as Euro Disney Resort and was then the fourth leisure project of this kind worldwide. In the following years, the park underwent several name changes and expansions to attract more visitors from different European countries.
The name of the fairy tale castle refers to a story rooted in many European folk traditions. Families gather in front of the structure for group photos, while children look up at the towers and turrets.
Covered arcades along the main street protect visitors from rain and wind, so shops remain accessible even in bad weather. Those traveling with small children will find rest areas and changing facilities in several zones.
The design of the different areas takes the climatic conditions of northern France more into account than in other sites of this kind. Certain attractions offer additional covered waiting areas, so guests stay protected for longer during rain or cold weather.
