Crush's Coaster, Steel roller coaster at Walt Disney Studios Park, France
Crush's Coaster is a steel roller coaster at Walt Disney Studios Park in Chessy that connects indoor and outdoor sections and reaches up to 61 kilometers per hour (38 miles per hour). The turtle-shaped vehicles spin during the ride and carry guests through illuminated ocean scenes and fast turns.
The installation opened in June 2007 as part of the expansion of the Toon Studio area and brought a new type of ride to the park. It was among the first attractions to combine a well-known animated film with a roller coaster.
The ride takes guests through the world of the Finding Nemo film and lets them experience the East Australian Current from the perspective of sea turtles. Digital projections and light effects transform the darkness into an underwater landscape through which visitors glide in spinning shells.
Visitors must be at least 107 centimeters tall to ride and should be prepared to move through darkness. The installation offers a single rider lane that shortens waiting time during busy periods.
The turtle shells spin freely and independently from each other, so each ride unfolds differently and is never predictable. Some sections run backward while the seats continue spinning and changing direction.
