Rivers of America, Riverboat landing in Frontierland, Chessy, France
Rivers of America is a water ride around Frontierland aboard full-scale replicas of paddle steamers like the Mark Twain and Molly Brown. The boats follow a winding channel that loops around Big Thunder Mountain, revealing rock cliffs and timber cabins along the shore.
Steam navigation on the Mississippi began in the early 19th century, linking settlements along the river. Paddle boats carried passengers and goods until the railroad arrived, gradually replacing river transport.
The landing recreates the feeling of a frontier trading post on the Mississippi, where travelers and cargo once met before continuing their journeys. The name Mark Twain honors the writer who worked as a riverboat pilot before turning to literature.
Boats depart roughly every 25 minutes, and the voyage takes around fifteen minutes. The upper deck offers open views of the surroundings and works well for taking photos.
The paddle boats carry a working steam engine whose pistons and paddle wheels move visibly during the trip. Passengers hear the captain's whistle, which once served as a signal between boats on busy river routes.
