Phantom Manor, Dark ride in Frontierland, Disneyland Paris, France.
Phantom Manor is a dark ride in Frontierland at Disneyland Paris in Chessy, France. Visitors board small carriages and travel through several rooms of a haunted villa where animated figures, light projections, and moving sets tell a story from the American West.
The attraction was built in 1992 for the opening of the park, replacing an earlier concept for a classic haunted villa. A major renovation in 2019 renewed the technical installations and added new visual effects while keeping the original story.
The staging shows Victorian salons and ballrooms with mechanical figures in evening wear brought to life through optical projections. Each scene plays with the illusion of a wedding celebration that never took place, connecting elements from the American frontier period with European ghost stories.
The ride lasts around nine minutes and passes through darkened rooms with occasional loud sounds and sudden movements. For young children the atmosphere may feel frightening even though there are no extreme accelerations.
On the top floor you can catch a brief glimpse through a window of the Big Thunder Mountain roller coaster, which plays a role in the mansion's story. The connection between both attractions emerged through joint planning work, allowing visitors of both rides to discover narrative parallels.
