Croatian School Museum

The Croatian School Museum is an education museum on Republic of Croatia Square in Zagreb and displays teaching materials, furniture, and equipment from different periods of Croatian school history. The collection includes thousands of objects that document how teaching methods and school supplies changed over the generations.

The museum was founded in 1901 after the collection received recognition at the Paris World Exposition. This success made it the first institution in Croatia dedicated to preserving school heritage.

The museum shows how classrooms looked in the past and what objects students used daily. The displays tell the story of how teaching happened and how children learned.

The museum is easy to reach by public transport and sits in a central location near other museums and attractions. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes since there is quite a bit of walking when exploring the different display areas.

A fully reconstructed classroom from the 19th century shows original desks, blackboards, and teaching materials that bring the daily school life of that era to life. This recreated setting lets visitors see and understand how much education has changed over time.
